In 2011, the Centwins Ltd. company was founded with an integrated activity in the IT domain. Understanding the complexity and specifics of the medical optics industry, Centwins Ltd. develops and launches in 2012 the OPTIVIO product – the first device for measuring the fitting parameters for spectacle lenses developed and manufactured in Romania, assisted by the software application with the same name OPTIVIO, also created by Centwins Ltd., which at the time ran on Windows operating systems.
During 2012 and 2013, four variants of the OPTIVIO device are produced:
- tower version (placed on the floor);
- office version (placed on the desk/table);
- version for the wall (mounting on the wall);
- short version for the wall (mounting on the wall);
All versions were accompanied by accessories such as a camera for determining near vision parameters and two reference devices.
In order to adapt to new technologies and reduce the purchase costs for customers, in 2013 at the National Salon of Optics and Optometry in Brașov, Centwins Ltd. presents the OPTIVIO application for tablets with the Android operating system, thus all the processes of measuring and centering lenses being made only with the help of a tablet, at which point the company decides to stop the production of the devices launched the previous year.
Also in 2013, the documentation was submitted in order to obtain the patent for the technology behind the OPTIVIO solution, a patent obtained a few years later.
At the end of 2015 we start translating the application into several languages, and a year later we launch a new reference frame device based on carbon fiber, thus managing to reduce its mass to less than half (from 19 grams to 9 grams) and increase reliability.
In 2018-2019, the application design is being redone from scratch, being completely optimized for mobile devices.
Also, over the years there have been countless updates to the app and there will be in the future, each new update being a response to customer feedback and a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement.
